In Germany, the Yellow Lady’s Slipper (Cypripedium calceolus) is known as one of the most attractive local orchids. It is strictly protected by law from picking or digging up.
The poster presents watercolor paintings of all known species of the genus Cypripedium. They are illustrations from the book „Die Orchideengattung Cypripedium: Phylogenie, Taxonomie, Morphologie, Biologie, Verbreitung, Ökologie, Hybridisation“by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Eccarius (ISBN 978-3-937107-19-6). The first edition published was in 2009.
The paintings were created by the artist Tilly Bielert from Göttingen/Germany. Mrs. Bielert has long-standing expertise in drawing orchids. A lot of her drawings and paintings are published by professional journals.
