Map of Israel

Map of Israel with surrounding areas. - Landkarte von Israel. - Mapa de Israel. - Carte d'Israël.

Israel's capital is Jerusalem. The biggest city of Israel is Tel Aviv at the coast. Flights to Israel usually go to Tel Aviv/Haifa. Israel is a small country and so we cannot show more cities on our map of the world.
The official languages of Israel are Hebrew, Arabic and English. These languages are written in three different scripts. Because Israel is so small on a map of the world, we can only show the name of the country and Jerusalem in all three scripts, the name of Tel Aviv in Hebrew and Latin.

Tourism is of relatively high importance in Israel. Many pilgrims of the Jewish, Christian and Musulman religions like to visit the city of Jerusalem and other important sites. The state of Israel was founded in 1948 by Jewish people from all over Europe, refugees who escaped and survived mass killings organized by German (and Austrian) Nazis, judges and administration employees. When immigrating to the Palestinian country, which hosts the state of Israel today, it was sometimes overlooked that the country had already been populated for centuries by Arabic-speaking people of Musulman and Christian religions. Living together has never been properly organized, which still leads to bloody conflicts until today. A Palestinian state of its own has been about to be set up for several years (Gaza etc.). We would appreciate more detailed information, also about tourism, flights, or individual tours to Israel.

This is our Map of the World with original scripts (original size 70 x 100 cm), from which the detailed map shown above has been cut out. The numbers of city inhabitants and vegetational zones were researched by hand for every country, by using the sources listed below. This procedure prevented the map from containing traditional errors provoked by simply copying such information from previous maps.

The map can be ordered for 11.50 Euros (+ postage and packing) at www.wissenladen.de.

Sources on which the information contained in this map is based:

The vegetational base map was aligned with satellite pictures from Google Earth.

The official names of the countries are quite well researched at www.geonames.de.

Also here you can find information on the geography of many countries: www.geographixx.de.

The numbers of inhabitants of the cities were taken from www.citypopulation.de.

And the mountain peak altitudes were largely derived form www.peakbagger.com.
