Map of Russia (Magadan) with surrounding areas. - Landkarte von Russland (Magadan). - Mapa de Rusia (Magadan). - Carte de Russie (Magadan).

Russia's capital is Moscow (= Moskva), which is also the biggest city of the country. Russia is by far the largest country of the world. Because the names of the localities would otherwise not be readable, we have subdivided Russia into 15 detail maps.
Magadan is located in eastern Siberia. It comprises a large and very thin populated area between the Eastern Siberian Sea (Vostokhno-Sibirskoye More) with Wrangel Island (Vrangelya) in the north and the Okhotsk Sea (Okhotskoye More) in the south. The biggest town is Magadan and is located at the shore of the Okhotsk Sea. On our map we have given the Cyrillic spellings and Latin transkriptions for the following localities:
Khonuu, Srdnekolymsk, Cherskij, Ajon, Pevek, Bilibino, Billings, Mys Shmidta, Iultin, Palana, Markovo, Evensk, Omsukchan, Atka, Magadan, Myakit, Sejmchan, Okhotsk, Yagodnoye, Susuman, Ojmyakon, Zyryanka, Ust'-Nera, Khandyga, Amga, El'dikan, Ust'-Maya, Allakh-Yun' and Nelkan.
The names of the longest rivers in this region are Uchur, Maya, Amga, Kolyma, Omolon and Anadyr'.

The single official language throughout the whole country of Russia is Russian. The are at least 27 locally official languages, so that Russia is also the country with the highest number of in official languages of the world. Most languages are written in the Cyrillic alphabet, like Russian, this is a result of political pressure of Soviet times. Exceptions are Chechen, Tatar and Finnish which are written in the Latin script, and Yiddish, which is written in the Hebraic script.
Russia's official languages are the following: Adyghe (Adygeya), Altai (Altay), Avar (Dagestan), Bashkir (Bashkiria), Buriat (Buryatia), Chechen (Chechnya), Chuvash (Chuvashia), Finnish (Karelia), Ingush (Ingushetiya), Kabardian (Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachaevo-Cherkessia), Kalmyk (Kalmykia), Karachay-Balkar (Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachaevo-Cherkessia), Khakas (Khakassia), Komi (Komi), Koryak (Koryakia), Kumyk (Dagestan), Lak (Dagestan), Lezghian (Dagestan), Mari (Mari El), Mordvin (Mordovia), Nenets (Nenets Autonomous Region), Ossetian (North Ossetia), Tatar (Tatarstan), Tuvinian (Tyva), Udmurt (Udmurtia), Yakut (Yakutia), Yiddish (Jewish Autonomous Region).

Tourism is locally of high importance in Russia. Every visitor of the largest country of the world is expected to have visited Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Tourists often have problems because they need Visa, which are not easy to obtain. It is a pity that Russia presents itself to each individual person who desires to visit this great country, as a country with serious problems of widely distributed corruption and widely missing democratic structures.
We would appreciate more detailed information, also about tourism, flights, or individual tours to Russia.

This is our Map of the World with original scripts (original size 70 x 100 cm), from which the detailed map shown above has been cut out. The numbers of city inhabitants and vegetational zones were researched by hand for every country, by using the sources listed below. This procedure prevented the map from containing traditional errors provoked by simply copying such information from previous maps.

The map can be ordered for 11.50 Euros (+ postage and packing) at www.wissenladen.de.

Sources on which the information contained in this map is based:

The vegetational base map was aligned with satellite pictures from Google Earth.

The official names of the countries are quite well researched at www.geonames.de.

Also here you can find information on the geography of many countries: www.geographixx.de.

The numbers of inhabitants of the cities were taken from www.citypopulation.de.

And the mountain peak altitudes were largely derived form www.peakbagger.com.
